This tutorial explains the procedure which should be followed when structural changes occur to projects for which a certificate has been issued to the Local Authority but the warrant has yet to be granted.

Discussions have taken place between SER and the Scottish Government’s Building Standards Division regarding this procedure and to avoid any possible confusion Approved Certifiers should adhere to this process.

Note that when generating a Structural Change certificate for a staged project it is only possible to select the most recent certificate for the project to change, although you can make changes to the stage description for all stages while generating the new certificate.

The tutorial includes information about how to generate a Structural Change certificate for a project for which more than one stage was created using the pre-October 2016 SER system.

Further information regarding managing post-certification design changes can be found in Guidance note 8 - Managing Post Certification Design.
