The SER Board of Directors has taken the decision to increase certificate fees as follows:

  • Minimum certificate fee will increase to £50+VAT
  • Additional certificate fee will increase to £35+VAT

The new certificate fees will apply from 9am 03/01/2023.

The new minimum certificate fee will apply to all certificates where the value of the works is £240,000 or less. For those projects where the value is above that figure the existing scaling fees will continue to apply.

The new fee for additional certificates will, as currently, apply for all additional certificates for a project unless the estimated project value has increased (in which case the fee will be the greater of the difference between the fee payable for the revised project value and that paid previously, or £35+VAT).

Certificate fees are a very small part of the total costs of certification of a project and are a charge made by SER to the client (although it is the member's responsibility to collect the certificate fee) so we are informing members in advance of this change to allow you to pass this information on to your clients. To assist you in this, you are able to check the cost of a certificate under the new fee structure on the SER website at Certificate Fees 2023
