This first blog is effectively just a brief note to expand on what we intend to use this section for in the coming weeks and months. Blogs allow us to communicate advice and clarify common misunderstandings in accessible chunks; less formal than guidance documents and less prescriptive than tutorials. We hope that Bodies, Certifiers, Local Authorities and others will engage with us by suggesting topics that they would like us to cover, and even propose writing pieces that they feel would be of interest to Scheme members. Subjects are likely to be varied, from common certification mistakes (and how to avoid them!) to advice from auditors and assessors.

In addition, we will use the new ‘News’ section to publicise events and recommended reading. Similarly, please feel free to contact us with any suggestions for events that you feel would be of interest.

The easiest way to keep up-to-date with new stories or articles, as well as to suggest topics for future pieces, is via our new (we accept we are somewhat behind trend) Twitter and Facebook accounts:

If you do not currently have a Twitter or Facebook account, the registration processes are quick and simple – instructions can be found here:

As well as publicising blogs and news stories, we will be monitoring and answering any queries that we receive via Facebook and Twitter.

We hope that you will find the new sections useful – the overall aim is to improve communication and, as a by-product, improve certification standards and knowledge of the SER Scheme.

For now, please follow our social media accounts, where further information will follow soon.
